How many hot melt one uses on a packaging is most of the time dependend on machine operators; how they control the glue patterns, pump pressure, temperatures, bead length and other machine settings, such as positioning.
Selecting a hot melt adhesive with the right properties might save a lot of adhesive, downtime and maintenance costs (no coaled equipment because of too high hot melt adhesive temperatures). Als electrical energy to heat the hot melt migth be reduced.
1,5 mm bead gives approximately 0,50 grams per meter usage (so with one kilogram (KG) you could glue 2 Kilometers (2.000 metres).
with a more standard bead of 3 mm one could glue 0,5Km, so 500 metres.
With excessive amount of glue, you still can glue approximately 150 metres (5mm bead).
Only in big numbers, savings are likely to be made.
