Intercol manufacturers adhesives for food, packaging and toy applications.
Adhesive Use by children
Intercol develops and manufacturers water-based adhesive intended for use by children. In our adhesive formulation we can use proprietary additives in addition to the base ingredients. Potentially toxic
residues in relevant concentrations are therefore also unlikely. Being waterwased there are no volatile solvents used. Our adhesives are not
considered acutely toxic by the oral route and adverse effects would be unlikely in the event of unintentional ingestion.
Direct contact with the skin or eye would be unlikely to result in significant irritation, and the formulation is unlikely to result in the induction or elicitation of skin sensitisation.
The product is safe for human health under conditions of normal and foreseeable use The age of the user is 3 years and over.
Our adhesvies can be reviewed with regard to acute and chronic toxicity hazards and the potential risk of causing adverse health effects to the user during conditions of normal use and foreseeable misuse. The review of the
formulation includes general systemic toxicity, carcinogenicity, eurotoxicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity and sensitisation.
Water based glue for craft activities
Based on the raw material information, the adhesive does not contain substances that would be classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic. None of the ingredients would be prohibited for consumer use. According to the safety data sheet, the mixture is not classifiable for hazard according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The base ingredients and
additives are mainly those permitted for use in water-based adhesives for toys including the preservative system and the plasticiser. The formulation is therefore considered likely to meet the chemical safety requirements of Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys provided appropriate testing is carried out to confirm adherence to specific limit values relevant to the product. The microbiological safety of the adhesive has not been assessed.
