Eco-friendly, semi-printable label hot melt adhesive

Intercol has developed a new labelling adhesive that supports the movement towards greater sustainability in the packaging and labelling sector.

The new adhesive, EHM 10.074 allows returned bottles to be washed in a caustic solution, separating them from their labels and from the adhesive, before being put back on the market. This reuse cycle can take place 10 to 15 times before the bottle is fully recycled. This drastically contributes to reducing the number of disposable plastics used today.

The innovative semi-pressure-sensitive formulation, EHM 10.074, works on all types of containers, but especially on highly carbonated bottles, as it offers a more aggressive bond, resistant to the stresses caused by the expansion of PET bottles under pressure.

The residual adhesive strength also allows labels to be pressed back into the desired position if the label comes off, satisfying both manufacturers who need to protect their brands and end users who benefit. The adhesive is suitable for low- and high-speed machines (26,000 bottles per hour on average) and easily provides the required bond between PET label and PET bottle.

Fully in line with the increasing introduction of deposit schemes, EHM 10.074 is approved by circular economy bodies Returpack and PETCycle, and is part of an eco-friendly range of adhesives from Beardow Adams that also includes bio-based, vegan and pallet-friendly adhesives. stabilisation adhesives.

BAM EHM 10.074 is also FDA-approved, allowing it to be used in the production of food and beverage labels and packaging.
